Research in the field of applied microbiology has a long tradition and high technological capability in Japanese industry. The purpose of this program is to further promote it, to establish its fundamental technologies, and to foster human resources who can play an active role in related academic and industrial fields. In particular, we are conducting both basic and applied research on several themes that will serve as seeds for future production technologies utilizing microbial functions.
